2010 / The factor of time is the immediate tool of the idea

2010

In the final years of his life, Marescalchi undergoes a shift in perspective that concerns not so much the subjects themselves, but the corporeality of the objects depicted. His focus on the natural world intensifies, fueled by a deep interest in the zoological symbolism found in cultures and literature.

Tigers, panthers, birds, fish, monkeys, goats, and snakes, painted with ink using Eastern techniques, embody an expressive power where swift strokes and monochrome gradations evoke a neo-expressionist language, far from the analytical illustration of bestiaries.

These animals, often intertwined with magic squares and cyclical numbers, invite contemplation and represent a profound dialogue between art, mathematics, and mysticism. In this period, new symbols emerge, such as the Kailash, the knot or nail, and explosions, which take on a central role in his poetic vision. Marescalchi continues to explore the boundaries between corporeality, spirituality, and nature, reaching a synthesis of great conceptual intensity.
